Ernst & Young Tops 30,000 Facebook Fans

I was interested to see that Ernst & Young had actually created the first Facebook fan page.  I found this interesting for two reasons.  First, I have recently been researching how professional services firms are using social networking to connect to new prospective clients.  Secondly, our local social media club has an upcoming presentation on how HR professionals are using social networking platforms to connect with prospective employees.

Ernst & Young actually created their Facebook page in 2006 and currently have over 30,000 Facebook fans.  In scanning through the posts on their fan page’s wall, it appears that many of their 30,000 fans are recent college graduates with Masters in finance or tax.  If you were a large professional services firm operating in the tax, consulting or financial services space this would appear to be a fairly valuable group of followers.

In a professional services firm the experience, education and talent of your professionals is your most important asset.  Therefore it’s great to see a well-known brand such as Ernst & Young using an innovative tool to connect with people wanting to learn more about how to become part of that organization.

Click here to find a video about Ernst & Young’s Facebook fan page.  You can find their actual Facebook fan page by clicking here.  Finally, check out their Twitter page to see how they are using micro-blogging.
