I was fortunate to recently attend a presentation hosted by the Social Media Club of South Florida (Miami/Fort Lauderdale area) in Fort Lauderdale while working on the east coast of Florida. The club hosted the event at the Broward Community College in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The presenter was a successful real estate agent from Miami Beach, Ines Hegedus-Garcia. Ines discussed how she threw out the rule book for practice development and the marketing of a professional services practice by embracing new media and social media tactics.
To put it mildly, the results that she’s realized are impressive and demonstrate in a dramatic way how professionals are obtaining real ROI (return on investment) from the effective use of social media tools. Through the use of her popular Miami area real estate blog – Miamism and other social media tools such as Twitter, Ines has been able to dramatically reduce her annual investment in traditional media advertising. Ines has eliminated a HIGH six figure number from her practice’s advertising budget. Her success with the use of social media has interesting implications for those of us searching for ways to enhance our businesses through the use of social media tools as well for the old media companies faced with this kind of lost advertising revenue on a massive scale.
